The Tropf-Blumat Maxi is particularly suitable for large potted plants and tubs up to 30 cm high. The longer design means that moisture can be measured deeper in the soil which leads to ideal conditions in the roots area.
AREAS OF USE:
- Large potted plants
- Ornamental trees
- Individual plants in large pots
- Tubs with container height of over 30 cm
The Tropf-Blumat Maxi works in exactly the same way as a normal Tropf-Blumat. Please refer to the normal Tropf-Blumat instructions for the water supply and general directions for use.
Water the soil well half an hour before insertion! Place the Tropf-Blumat Maxi in the soil down to a depth of approx. 15-18 cm towards the edge of the root cluster, not too close to the stem. Or about 5-8 cm from the edge of the pot in the case of pot plants.
In the case of freshly repotted plants, insert the Maxi directly into the soil (not in the root balls), turning it clockwise, and then press the soil down lightly.
In the case of dense root growth or very hard soil, first pierce a hole towards the edge of the root cluster. Fill the hole halfway up with loose earth then insert the Tropf-Blumat Maxi and water again generously so that the clay tip has good contact with the soil. Then fill the hole up with soil.
The drip tube must protrude 8-10 cm out of the Tropf-Blumat Maxi. Undo the adjustment screw until water runs out of the drip tube. Then turn the screw slowly clockwise until there is just one drop of water left hanging on the drip tube. Then turn the screw tighter by one more marking arrow (1/8 turn).
When using the Tropf-Blumat Maxi for watering, the surface of the soil will be generally dry. This is normal because the Tropf-Blumat Maxi regulates the moisture around the roots.
Regulating the moisture
The length of the drip tube can be reduced to 6 or 7 cm for plants that prefer dry conditions, this shortens the watering time. For moisture-loving plants, the length can be increased to 15 cm. This will lengthen the watering time.
